WORK
CAMP 2010: Mother's Village
The 2010 St. David's Relief Foundation Pilgrimage
and Work camp took place during the last week of
July and the first week of August in 2010. About
40 faithful and devoted people came from various
locations around the globe to work together for
the betterment of Mother's Village and make the
pilgrimage to Medjugorje. During and after the trip,
Our Lady touched each of us in her own special way.

We were lucky to have such a large group of young
people working because their energy and stamina
carried us through hot days and hard work. After
arriving we were split into groups. Some went to
the Women's shelter to work on a project removing
pavers so that the elevation around the building
could be raised for better drainage. Others went
to the pomegranate orchard to trim and weed last
year's plantings and to plant a new section of orchard.
There were other projects that people could work
on if being in the hot sun was a problem.
We also had the privilege of attending daily Mass
and sitting before our Lord in Adoration. The Sacrament
of Reconciliation was readily available in the square
outside of St. James Church or in the yard of Vesna's
bed and breakfast where we stayed.
The priests and brothers in attendance were so generous
with their time and it was a blessing to be able
to participate in the daily office with them.
Mother's Village is a truly unique place run by
Fr. Svetozar and his devoted staff. This is a place
where God's divine providence is not just talked
about but relied upon. Being part of this wonderful
operation, if only for a short time, was a great
blessing with lessons that will live with us for
the rest of our lives.
We were also blessed with a great group of people
to assist us with all of our needs. Vesna's bed
and breakfast provided a very pleasant home base
with excellent food and plenty of smiles. Slav and
Miljenka helped us see the various sights with the
expertise only professionals like themselves could
provide. We experienced apparitions and were able
to meet with Marija, one of the visionaries. We
were able to walk apparition hill and the mountain
of the cross. When it got really hot, we'd be treated
to outings along a river filled with cool mountain
water. During the second week of our stay, we were
able to observe and participate in the world youth
festival which was attended by 70,000 youth from
around the world. |
